APCO committees examine key industry topics like homeland security, call center standards, and frequency coordination. Other committees help govern and operate the association itself. APCO’s committees have been instrumental in helping to form policy, develop standards and promote change in the field of public safety communications.

NENA successfully develops standards, requirements, information, and reference documents through the diverse backgrounds and experience provided by the Public Safety and Industry professionals that participate in NENA's working groups. NENA Working Group (WG) and NENA Development Group (NDG) Committee participation is open to anyone, membership is not required.
